Happy Father’s Day!

I love Father’s Day because it’s a day where I get to spend the day with my dad.  We have a lunch “date” once a month to catch up on life, but on Father’s Day we always do something extra special and I think we have started a new tradition, lunch in Old Sacramento and a Rivercats game.  My dad and I have always been close, even though my parents have been divorced since I was 5 he was always there for me and supported me through everything I did.  Growing up, I was the boy my dad never had.  I was into sports and I think he enjoyed living out his dreams of playing sports through me since my grandma never let him play when he was growing up.  From Softball and baseball (with the boys) to Soccer and even a little Volleyball, I played it all and my dad was at every single game, my biggest (and loudest) cheerleader.  I am so grateful to have a dad like him, so supportive and loving.  When I was getting ready to apply to colleges I told my parents I wanted to be a photographer my mom thought I was crazy and could never make a living do such a thing (she was just looking out for me, I know) but my dad said “Go for it!!”  From day one he has always taught me to go after my dreams and has always made me write down my goals so I can aspire to do great things and never give up on myself, and for that I am so grateful.

My dad was always the man behind the camera growing up, literally every where we went he had the camera and was snapping pictures (sounds familiar), so I don’t have a lot of pictures of just him and me but the ones I do have I cherish.

Happy Father’s Day dad and to all of the dad’s out there, enjoy this day with your family!

I remember my dad always telling me to wave at the camera and boy would I!

New Albums :: Sacramento Wedding Photographer

Yesterday I received Amy and Josh’s wedding album and parent albums, and I always get so excited to see the real deal and browse through the freshly printed pages.  I love when my clients get creative with their album cover as well, and Amy and Josh decided to go with a black leather with a champagne accent strip along with a 6×4 metal cameo and I am in love with it!

Aren’t these parent albums so adorable?!  They’re just mini versions of the bride and groom’s album.

Nolan & Jessica w/2 Chic Events and Designs :: Promo and Save the Date Video

Nolan and Jessica are my super duper cute couple couple for May 2011 who teamed up with Aimee, 2 Chic Events and Designs for Aimee’s promo video and also a Save the Date video for themselves.  I had the opportunity to photograph these two and the details of this super cool video throughout the shoot and I really can’t wait for the video to be released, but for now here is only a teaser photo that I am  just in love with!  Jessica with Lovespun Films was amazing behind the camera and so fun and easy to work with!  So for now enjoy this teaser but stay tuned for both videos!

Justin & Amanda :: June 12, 2010 Oak Farm Vineyards

I love Justin and Amanda, they are so fun, sweet and so in love, even after being together for 12 years you would never know it because when he looks at her it’s like he’s seeing her for the first time.  They chose a gorgeous place to get married too, Oak Farm Vineyards, it was like a photographer’s playground and we took full advantage!!  The thing I love most about these two is their trust in me, I knew from their engagement session that they fully and completely trusted me and allowed me the freedom to be an artist.  Thank you both for this and for having so much fun with us on your wedding day!

All of the bouquets and boutonniere’s and cake flowers done by Jen’s Flowers

Throughout the whole day Amanda was wearing this gorgeous smile.

Amanda, you are stunning.  Seriously!

A huge thanks to Raquel from Image Provocateur for Amanda’s hair and makeup.  Raquel always rocks my socks!

Justin and Amanda decided to do a First Look and I have to tell the story behind this.  Originally Amanda was all for it and Justin wanted to keep with tradition and see his bride for the first time walking down the isle.  I was ok with this since I don’t like to push this on my couples, I just highly recommend it because it’s a very romantic time for the two of them to see each other and have a moment just to themselves before the madness really kicks off, plus we get tons of time for pictures!  Well, the week before their wedding Amanda emails me and says that Justin has decided he’d like to do the First Look after all and I’m thinking “great work Amanda!”  Fast forward to this moment right below, after they had their moment Justin says and I quote “I am SO glad we did this, I am not as stressed anymore!”  And it just made me smile.

Toasts time, and the best man was nervous he had to chug his beer.

But he had a great speech, even made Justin a bit misty eyed.

Mike with Elite Entertainment had everyone gettin’ down on the dance floor!

After all of the formal events, we snuck away for some sunset pictures in the vineyard.

And then these two surprised me by saying “Yes” to getting into this boat to take a ride in the pond and I love them for doing it because it was so worth it!!
