We had the honor and pleasure of photographing a wedding in Chicago last week and it was our first time visiting the Windy City. We stayed a full week to really soak in the city, plus it was my hubby’s birthday right before we left to come home so we couldn’t go wrong with some kid free time to explore and celebrate. We had mostly grey, rainy weather, but towards the end of our trip the sun decided to come out and we enjoyed it!
Enjoy our photos from my dSLR and iPhone
One of the highlights of our trip was seeing the Cubs play at Wrigley Field AND THEN celebrating their win with Cubs fans!
We ate SO GOOD! Seriously, we didn’t have a bad meal! One of my favorites was the deep dish pizza at Unos Pizzeria. The hostess recommended it: 4 cheese, sausage that is made specifically for their restaurant and pesto sauce. Oh how I can still taste it. Every bite was filled with flavor, yum!!!
Drinks at the Trump Tower Rebar was a nice getaway from the rain one day.
View from our hotel, the W Chicago
And our room. We really loved staying here, the rooms were comfy and we could walk or Uber anywhere. We did a lot of walking (we had to since we were eating so good!), but Uber was a great option for when our feet were tired.
We were told by multiple people to eat at Gino’s East, so of course we had to try it! The atmosphere was probably one of our favorites and the bartenders were very friendly! We ordered the bartenders suggestion of bleu cheese and bacon deep dish with a bacon and bleu cheese stuffed jalapeno….delicious!
View of the city from Lincoln Zoo, which is FREE by-the-way! It was a great zoo, I wish we had more time to walk through it more but we were photographing our couple at that point.
The day after the wedding the sun decided to come out and we took full advantage with our couple with a Day After Session. Our sweet couple treated us to their favorite Burger place called Kumas Too and it was so delicious as you can see from the photos below!
Beautiful tulips line the streets everywhere in Chicago, it’s so beautiful, I just love all the pop of color!
Next, we had to spend some time in the Field Museum which was really cool and very interesting to walk through!
And then more food…..
Roasted beets with goat cheese at the Purple Pig
Greek cornbread with feta and Parmesan drizzled with honey
Sausage panini
My hubby was bold enough to get the Octopus and loved it. I tried a tiny bite, it wasn’t bad.
On our last day, which was my hubby’s birthday, we went up to the top of the John Hancock building to watch the sunset and enjoy a birthday drink. Not a bad view at all! If you go you MUST visit the women’s restroom where you have a fabulous view and you’ll find people lined along the window taking selfies.
We were up bright and early to catch our flight home and just as we were about to get into the elevator to check out of our room we saw this view from the window! What an amazing sunrise it was! We had such a great time and hope to visit Chicago again in the future!
