Are you wondering when the best time is to schedule maternity photos?

I always recommend scheduling between weeks 28-35, but don’t push it to the very end of your pregnancy just in case.

When should I book my maternity photos?

I recommend scheduling your session around 2-3 months in advance to ensure availability, and once scheduled, we will work together to pick the perfect location for your session.

How many outfits should I plan for?

You have access to my client closet where I have A LOT of bump friendly dresses. Feel free to pick out 1-3 dresses and you’re welcome to bring your own outfits that we can look through together. I always have a portable changing tent on hand to easily change during our session. I will help you choose the best outfits for your photos.

Can my partner and kids be included in the session?

Absolutely!! Bring the husband, the kids, even the dog if you’d like (I love when dogs join in on sessions). I will capture a variety of shots during your session including: family, just you in all your pregnancy glory, close ups of your bump, just you and your partner, just you and your kids, individuals of your kids, your partner with the kids, just to name a few.

How long is the session?

Our session will be about an hour long, and that hour will fly by! Scheduled about an hour and a half before sunset to get the best light of the day. We will play, explore the location, get to know each other better, and you get to be a super model for a day in front of my camera.

I don’t love being in front of the camera, will you help me pose?

Of course I will, that’s my job! After 19 years of being in business, I have a trained eye and will put you in the best light and the best angle. Being a woman myself helps me to capture women’s true beauty. With every type of session, I will guide and gently pose you the entire time. You will not be left wondering what to do with your hands or try to think up poses on your own. My style is very fluid, candid, and feels more natural. I am also very hands-on, making sure you look your best, fixing hair, dresses, shirts, hand placements…anything that needs to be fixed.

Can I request certain poses?

Absolutely! I’m always open to ideas you may have and while I may not copy them exactly, I will take inspiration from them and create something that is beautiful and unique to you. But don’t feel like you have to scour Pinterest to find pose ideas either, you can just show up to your session and let me handle the rest.

What should I expect after the session?

After our session, I will send you your private online gallery in about 1-2 weeks. From there, depending on which package you purchase you will either pick out your favorites to download or you will download the whole gallery and start thinking about what you want to do with your photos. Posting them of social media is fun and all, but the real fun is printing them for your home, and I can help you do that. You will see my product line at the end of our session where you can browse through all of my printing options and start envisioning your images in them for yourself.

What do people usually do with their maternity photos?

I get asked this a lot! Most clients will hang them in the nursery, or after their newborn or baby session, they will combine both session images and preserve them in an album or have me design a cluster on thin wraps for their wall….one that most clients will add onto over the years as their kids and family grow.

I know I’ll want to take more pictures as my baby grows, what’s the best option to do this that isn’t really expensive?
