Aiden :: Newborn

Aiden was such a great model, sleeping almost the whole session!  I can’t wait to document his growth through his first year!

Rome, Italy :: Personal

Our final journey ends in Rome.  I was so anxious to see this city and all of it’s history!

The Pantheon.  Such an incredible structure!

We spent a day in the Vatican City

Then we toured Ancient Rome, this was my favorite day!

LOVED walking through the Colosseum!

The Trevi Fountain.

This was such an incredible trip for us!  I had always dreamed of going to Italy and was a little afraid that it wouldn’t be as fantastic as I had imagined it to be, but in fact it was even better than I ever could have imagined and I so look forward to the day when we can go back.  I thew a penny in the Trevi Fountain and wished for us to come back again soon.

Sorrento, Italy :: Personal

Our next stop on our Italy trip was a few nights in Sorrento.  I had never heard of this town but our travel agent highly recommended it, so I trusted her and boy were we glad we stayed as long as we did there!  This town is very touristy but so beautiful and fun!  After experiencing the beautiful rolling hills and vineyards of Tuscany it was nice to now explore the coast of Italy.

This is really how wide their streets are in most places.  Cars and scooters really drive down them…

The beach

Scooters were everywhere!

Our first night in town, we were walking back to our hotel and noticed a walkway and just pitch black right next to it.  Scott said lets go check that out so we did and did not expect to see THIS from the walkway!  It is an old Roman Bath House.  Below shows it during the day.

We decided to rent a scooter and drive to Positano.  Wow, was that scary and fun!  People on scooters are crazy drivers, swerving in and out of on coming traffic, so I let Scott drive and I just hung on for dear life!  He was a great driver though, but there were times I had to hide my eyes because I thought I was going to have a limb taken off by how close we were getting to some of the cars.  By the end I was having a blast on it and now I want one for at home!

We only spent half a day in Positano but I wish we could’ve stayed longer.  It was such a beautiful town!

We stopped for lunch at a restaurant overlooking the water and had some delicious pizza!

We spent one day in Pompeii and all I can say is WOW!  The history, what’s left of the town, the things we saw in the town were just amazing!  We had a private tour guide and I HIGHLY recommend doing that rather than being bunched up with a ton of people and trying to hear what the guide is saying.  We learned so much history, it was just so fascinating!

A real human remain from the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.

Roman Bath House

A typical Roman house.  We are in the dinning room looking towards the front entrance.  The bedrooms are off the first main room where there is a fountain that would collect water from the rain.

Stay tuned for the final stage in our journey.

Tuscany, Italy :: Personal

Scott and I had the most amazing time in Italy!  We managed to spend a little over 2 weeks exploring this beautiful country.  It was so very hard to leave our little boy, Evan (who is now 20 months old) but my mother-in-law took great care of him and we were able to Skype with him every day.  We began our adventure in a small town located in Tuscany called Certaldo (pronounced Chertaldo).  We stayed at Villa IL Pozzo, which was amazing!  All of their apartments in the Villa were so nice, and the owners were so accommodating to everyone.  They even make their own wine and olive oil there at the villa, so of course we had to bring a bunch home with us!

The glass door is our entrance to our little apartment.  Below is our little kitchen.

The far right lower window is our apartment.

My handsome hubby enjoying an Italian beer in our little patio area.

Tuscany is full of old medieval towns, San Gimignano is one of the biggest, so we spent a day browsing through the town and it was like something out of a movie.  The architecture was amazing and just walking through I could imagine what life was like back then.

Our next excursion was visiting Pisa and Lucca.  I studied Italian architecture in College so I was very excited and anxious to see a lot of what I had learned 7 years ago.  The leaning tower of Pisa was one that I studied and boy is it ever leaning!

The city’s walls

After our tour through Pisa, we asked our tour guide to take us to a place for lunch that wasn’t touristy, we wanted real Italian food.  So he took us to this hotel in between Pisa and Lucca.  The restaurant wasn’t open for lunch yet but they were very eager to accommodate us, which was so nice!  We started with buffalo mozzarella with truffle shavings, then I ordered the beef cooked in balsamic vinegar with red cabbage and cheese slices on top and Scott ordered the Tuna.  It was so delicious, the best meal we ended up having our whole trip!

To top off the fabulous food for lunch, this was our view from our table.  Staring at the mountains, Scott and I thought the white on the mountains was snow, but our tour guide informed us that it’s actually marble.

Touring through Lucca was so much fun!  There were so many shops and cathedrals to browse through.  We wished we had more time to spend in the town.

Stay tuned for the 2nd portion of our trip to Italy…

Kevin & Eunie :: Engaged, Tuscany, Italy

Kevin and Eunie will be getting married in September and were attending Dave and Sara’s wedding in Tuscany so I thought, how awesome would it be to do their engagement session while we all are in Tuscany?!  So that’s what we did!  We started at the Villa and then drove just a short distance into town and had a blast!
