Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and moms-to-be.  I hope you have a relaxing day with your family, and if you just do 1 thing today, make sure you take a picture with your kids, if not for you do it for them!   After going through old pictures I realized I don’t have many pictures with my mom growing up, so I try to be present in pictures with my boys for my boys.

Happy Mother’s Day to my mom who has always been there for me through thick and thin and remained my best friend through it all.  You worked so hard as a single mom to provide for us and you’re the strongest woman I know.    I love you so much mom, you are the best role model and you make me be a better mom to my boys.

This is one of the only pictures I have of my mom pregnant.

And finally, me with my 2 boys.

Why Albums are so important :: Sacramento Wedding and Portrait Photographer

On our wedding anniversary I decided to pull out our wedding album to show Evan.  It was the cutest thing to watch him flip through the pages pointing out everyone he knew “hey there’s Nana and Papa, Grandma and Grandpa….Mommy and daddy and mommy’s new shoes!”  Explaining to a 3 year old what a wedding is all about and what it means is a bit difficult though, he wanted to know “where’s Evan and Jacob” in all of the pictures.  But what makes me the happiest is to know that our wedding album will be passed down in our family, as our kids get older they can enjoy flipping through the pages and eventually showing their kids grandma and grandpa’s wedding album.  I would give anything to have my grandparents’ wedding album, flipping through the pages trying to imagine what life and a wedding was like in those days.

One of the last times we visited my in-laws I asked them to show me their wedding album, and though their pictures were starting to turn yellow, falling out of the album and also had some water damage from being stored over time it was so much fun to look through all of the pictures.  I decided to sneak their album away and re-do it, taking pictures of their pictures, fixing them in Photoshop and then designing a modern day wedding album that will last a very long time.  I surprised them with it on their anniversary last year and told them that of course I did this for them but also for me, I want my boys to be able to enjoy their album when they’re grown.  Albums become a family heirloom and although doing an album through Shutterfly, Snapfish or any other similar company, the quality will not last.  The difference and quality between those albums and professional grade albums are unmatched.  The albums I offer to all of my clients have very thick pages that cannot be torn and each spread is sprayed with a UV coating to ensure that it will not fade or discolor over time.  The cover material is also very durable, I am very rough with my sample albums and I have some from 7 years ago that still look great, plus my own wedding album is now 6 years old and still looks new although I keep it in it’s box and in our fireproof safe.

So please, get your images off your computer and into an album that you will be able to enjoy and then pass down to your family.

Curtis & Megan :: Engaged, Sacramento Wedding Photographer

These two met at their local church.  Curtis had been practicing to become a pastor and reading sermons every now and then and caught the eye of Megan.  Now Megan is finishing up school and Curtis has the goal of acquiring his own church and Megan will soon be the pastor’s wife.  I had a blast goofing around with these two, they are a lot of fun and so sweet with each other.  Their June wedding is going to be so much fun!

Madison :: 7 Months, Sacramento Baby Photographer

Miss Madison is such a doll!  This family is just the sweetest and I absolutely loved photographing them and documenting this time in their lives!

Hudson :: 9 Months, Sacramento Baby Photographer

What a handsome little boy!  I just love all of his expressions too.  I can’t believe the next time I see him will be for his 1 year session!

I love re-creating images from previous sessions.  The top image is from their maternity session and of course the bottom is from this session.
