Dear Evan,

The last 4 years have gone by in a flash!  You are such a strong, stubborn and independent little man and I am so proud to call you my son.  As I write this it evoke tears, tears of joy because I have the gift of watching you grow yet sad because you’re no longer my little baby, nor my little toddler, you’ve graduated to a big kid.  Why does time have to go by so fast, I wish you could stay little forever but I know you were put on this earth and into our family for a purpose to do great things.  You have made your dad and me better people because of you.  You’ve given us strength from the day you were born, 5 weeks early and in the NICU for just a short period that felt like an eternity to us.  You were so strong yet so tiny then.  You showed us the power of love and proved to us that love at first sight is real because we fell in love with you from the moment we saw you, my little bleach blonde surfer baby.  You’re learning how to treat a woman because you tell me “mommy, you’re so beautiful” all the time, even when I feel far from beautiful, and you seem to tell me this when I need to hear it the most.  You are so smart, artistic and witty, you make us laugh constantly and I am amazed at the things you build and create and cannot wait to see what you do with all the talent you have.  Being your mom is the best job I’ve ever had!

Happy 4th birthday little man!

Another year and another birthday, another year older, but I really do have so much to be thankful for!  That I get to spend each birthday ahead with these two amazing little boys and my amazing husband.  The good thing is that I don’t feel as old as I am although the gray hairs that peek through tell a different story (but shhhhh, don’t tell anyone).  It has been an amazing year and I know the best is yet to come, every year gets better and better!
